Unfortunately, regular grill cleaning and repair is a necessary inconvenience in life. Any way you look at it, it’s a dirty job and can sometimes be a dangerous job considering gas leaks, electrical faults, the use of certain chemicals, or encountering certain pests such as packrats, spiders, and snakes.

Regular grill & smoker cleaning is crucial to ensure clean, healthy grilling. A clean grill keeps out rodents such as packrats whose droppings carry dangerous diseases. A dark, warm environment that also holds food bits and oils is the perfect place they want to be.

A grill that goes unused for long periods of time- months or even years has the tendency to begin housing black widows or even a snake. We know because we see it. So, even if you’re not using your grill regularly, its beneficial to go out and turn it on high heat once a week for 5-10 minutes.

Regular grill cleaning also ensures that grease, fat, oil, food, (and wood pellets/chips for a smoker) never build up to the point of starting an uncontrollable “grease” fire in your grill. It does not happen often, but we do get calls occasionally for grill cleanings after the fire department has had to come out and extinguish a grill fire. These are grills that were most likely not cleaned for years and saw lots of use. In some cases, this fire has the potential to spread to the home if it is placed near a wall or under an awning or porch for example.

Though this can be concerning, we would rather educate and inform people of the benefits of keeping a clean grill and being proactive. Not only that, but premium built in grills that are serviced regularly (1-2 times/year) can see a life span of over 20 years! We regularly service and repair Turbos, Grand Turbos, Wolf, Lynx, DCS, Alfresco, Fire Magic and the like and when cared for they last a very long time. A good incentive to promote longevity 😎
